Mad Gamers are next up with their review of the 'Bloodmoon' expansion pack for 'Morrowind'. Final score: 8.8 out of 10 points.
In fact, there's virtually nothing in Bloodmoon that's been recycled. For a start, everything looks different: the muted greens and browns of Morrowind have been replaced with shimmering white snowfields, and the sparse scrubs with lush forests. Despite its age, Morrowind is still astonishingly attractive. The low-poly character models are showing their age slightly – although the animation in Bloodmoon is better than it's ever been - but the sunrises and general lighting effects are still astounding and the game has a luminous, other-worldly beauty that other titles simply don't possess. Simply put, it feels like a real world, and the satisfaction to be gained from finding a beautiful spot from which you can watch the sun set, or finding an aerial vantage point from which you can admire the view, is almost as great as it would be in the real world. Now, the landscape even changes as you progress through the game – the fledgling colony grows steadily as you play, and you may find even the most familiar landmarks can now be destroyed.
