RPG Vault has posted Part 1 of an interview with CDProject's Studio Director Michal Kicinski and external Designer Ryslaw Chojnowski about 'The Witcher'. Here's a snip:Jonric: At the high concept level, what kind of RPG is The Witcher intended to be, and what types of gameplay experience can we expect it to emphasize?
Michal Kicinski: The vision behind The Witcher is to create an action-oriented, visually stunning, easy to use, single-player RPG with a deep and intriguing storyline. We have always been fans of RPGs and action RPGs, but when we played most such games, we definitely missed a good storyline.
We decided that it would be great to combine dynamic action with a good and involving story. What this means is that in The Witcher, you spend a lot of time fighting opponents (in a very spectacular way), but you also get involved in a story that would fit even a hardcore RPG. And, as in classic CRPGs, you'll find lots of different quests that can be solved in multiple ways. Moreover, depending on your actions during the whole game, there are three different endings. |
