Something from the IWD2 forums (a bit late, but the server optimizations keeps one busy).

    Dave Maldonado

    Some Q&A
Q: How many total feats are likely to be? (ie - don't count those that have been removed or are likely to be removed)
A: There's between 60-70 right now, not counting the various weapon specialization and focus feats.

Q: How many ranks in Search and Disarm will we need to cover all or most (95%) of traps in the game? Will we need to be maxxed out, since there is no random element?
A: I don't have a handy table listing the every single trap in the game's Detect and Disarm rating, but the worst they get on the "balancing guidelines" sheet makes for DC's of 18-28 in the final areas. There are always exceptions to such, of course.
There is a random element; the PC "rolls" a 1d20 and adds his or her total skill (so plus statistics and item bonuses, etc.); meeting or beating the trap's DC means YOU = WINNAR.

Q: It might be that for pick pockets and remove traps there is no roll, you just "take ten" or "take twenty" as in 3E.
    A: Nope, it's currently all random: 1d20 + skill + stat/item/whatever bonuses compared to a DC.

Q: Will the backstabbering behave as in BG2? I mean, will the player be able only to backstab with a melee weapon that is usable by a single-class thief?
A: There are currently no weapon restrictions on sneak attacks

Q: Are there any penalties for having extremely low stats(e.g. int 3) or some extremely stupid extra dialogue choices for low int.
A: Perhaps here and there, but as a general rule, no. Stat and skill affects in dialog, as far as poor stats and skills go, are more of a "don't get the good stuff" than a "punished with bad stuff" thing.

Q: Are Fallen Paladins limited to their orignal god when multiclassing?
A: The fallen paladin can't ever take paladin levels again, so he or she is really just a fighter at that point... except without the boatloads of feats a fighter would have normally accumulated. In other words, a fallen paladin necromancer is (numbers-wise) a poopy fighter/necromancer, so unless you're in it for the role-playing, I'd steer clear.

Q: Has this reintroduced random element to disarm traps carried over to dialogue (bluff, intimidate, diplomacy)?
A: Nope. I'm not even sure if such would be possible, considering the way scripts/commands/checks are handled in dialog.

Q: Do Strong Back and Maximize Attacks require levels of fighter?
    A: Nope.

Q: is Heroic Inspiration available *only* to bards
A: Not currently; the PC must have at least one level of bard or barbarian or paladin.

Q: Do Critical Threats need to then again be re-rolled to see if it is counted as a Critical Hit (like in PnP)?
A: Not currently, however, we're hoping that such will be in and working any day now.

Q: In howfar do this "skills" play a role when it comes to the red-line of the story, could a six "moron" party finish the game?
A: Yes. They'll just miss out on cool and/or helpful stuff.

Q: Do the features always work and hence make certain characters feel "uncomfortable"(intimidate for example on a half-ling), hence making them attack you?
A: We generally don't bother offering the response to the PC if it won't work.
As a side note, Intimidate is rarely used to start fights; more often it's used for avoiding them or bullying info/goods out of NPC's.

Q: Is it possible to initiate dialogue with NPC's with different characters and gain different answers? Or do the NPC's once met, set into a dialogue loop?
A: I think we try to be as logical as possible in setting up our dialogs. If one jackass character insults an NPC, the NPC probably won't take too kindly to any of your other party members talking to him again. However, if there's a guard (as a simple example) that your current speaker can't Diplomacy her way past - but you have another character with a great Bluff skill - you can always end the dialog with the guard on a good note and then try to bluff him with the other PC in a subsequent conversation.

Q: If my character levels up and gains two feats that level, can he purchase one feat that has the other as a prerequisite, assuming all other prerquisites are met?
    A: Currently, yes.

    Chad Nicholas (Briareus)

    Some Q&A
Q: What happens if I max out on all class skills and have an odd number of skill points left? Can we save those leftover points? Is there a half-rank option in IWD2?
A: You'll be able to save one point from level to level if you've got one remaining. There are no half-rank options.

Q: Can bard-song be disrupted (either in a similar or different way to spellcasting being disrupted)?
A: Not that I've seen with my bard, though being stunned or a similar effect will stop the song.

Q: Why arent chimeras in as racial enemies? From what Briareus said the legion of chimeras is helping whoever is behind all the shinanagins in IWD2. The word legion dictates loads of them in the game and they are not on the racial enemy list.
A: There probably isn't enough of them in the game to warrant their own entry. We could easily add them to the list, but you wouldn't really get much out of it. The name is actually 'The Legion of Chimera' - it's singular, not plural. It's just a name for an organization in the game.

Q: Why are Ogres and Giants listed seperately? They are the same racial enemy type? Ogre are listed as giant class creature in the 3E monster manual.
A: Probably because there are enough ogres to warrant their own entry in the Hated Enemy list. It's like in IwD1, how we seperated undead into three catagories, but in IwD2, there is just the one 'Undead' catagory.

Q: How many skills points does it take to max out a skill?
A: The max is your level + 3, so a level 10 character can have a skill as high as 13. For class skills, you buy them at a cost of 1 for 1, so 13 points in this example. For cross class skills, you buy them at a cost of 2 for 1, so 26 in this example. Better not lower that Int too much or you won't have many skills!

Q: Will a low level thief be able to pick the higher level locks and find traps? I know this is a skill, but will I be able to take open locks and such if Im leveling as a mage after mutli from a thief.
A: Lock and trap difficulties are set on a per area basis, so I don't believe you'll find any locks or traps that you can't pick with a single classed rogue with a good set of skills.

    Alignment effects
Dialog options sometimes check for alignment, among other things.

    HOF mode
There's a lot of magic items in HOF that you can't get in the regular game. Some of them are pretty frightening.

    Doug Avery (Wolf)

    CD's
We are trying to get everything to fit on 2 CDs. Let me re-iterate that. We are TRYING to get everything to fit on 2 CDs. It is looking more like it will be three, but Darren may have a few tricks up his sleeve to make it fit on two.

    Collectors Edition
Apparently there was some confusion on the EB World website. You cannot order the collector's edition from them. It is only available through Interplay.com. I just got this from Feargus a minute ago so you're hearing it as soon as I got the information. I hope that helps alleviate some angst.
