|
Al Quadim - The Genie's Curse: 6/10 points |
Enjoyable adventure game, but I grew tired of it pretty soon. Too lottle RPGing. |
Angband: 10/10 points |
Wow, this is here too? Well, it doesn't include RPGing per say, but this is the ultimate replayable game. Beats Diablo2 all the way and without any graphics at it too!
I still don't quite graps why I like Angband more the Nethack... |
Arx Fatalis: 7/10 points |
Quite good game. Reminds me of Ultima Underworld, but it's replayability is lacking. |
Baldur's Gate: 4/10 points |
Linear plot, "new" engine already "out of it's time". Bored me to tears. |
Black & White: 1/10 points |
Great graphic engine and neat AI tricks. It got me hooked for 2 weeks, but once you start understanding how the AI develops it becomes a really boring and tedious. And to top it off the bugs in the game made me really sore.
If it actually had RPG elements it might get a 2. |
Champions Of Krynn: 5/10 points |
I started playing it but I never got hooked, unlike the pool of radiance series. It seemed averge story wise compared to it. |
Dark Earth: 8/10 points |
Great story. Adventure though, not much RPGing there, though at least it had some really nice twists depending on what you did. Nice graphics. I quite enjoyed this game really. |
Deus Ex: 4/10 points |
As an RPG this game simply doesn't hold up. It's a GREAT "action adventure" and FPS, but it's got WAY too few RPG elements... Close to none in fact, and a linear plot to top it off. |
Diablo: 3/10 points |
Mostly boring though addictive. Gets an extra point over Diablo 2 for at least being original at the time. |
Diablo - Hellfire: 1/10 points |
Crappy expansion to a crappy game. Alien like creatures.. what a GREAT idea... |
Diablo 2: 2/10 points |
As an RPG, um. No. It gets an extra point because of the "character customization" and the neat graphics, that's all. |
Dungeon Siege: 5/10 points |
Too repettive and little replayability. Once you specialize somewhere it's hard to work somwhere else, and you always end up specializing somewhere. Engine was nice though. Oh, and the items dissapearing after 10 minutes really threw me off. |
Eye of the Beholder: 8/10 points |
The original of the EoB series. I really liked this game and played it many timnes thorugh. It's puzzles were a bit annoying but not as bad as the sequels'. |
Eye of the Beholder 2 - The Legend of Darkmoon: 6/10 points |
Good sequal to the original, it's only problem were the almost impossible puzzles - even worst then the original... |
Eye of the Beholder 3 - Assault on Myth Drannor: 4/10 points |
It was OK, but I grew tired of all the puzzles in EoB and they made it even more impossible to figure out. |
Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 10/10 points |
Best RPG ever. Simple as that. |
Fallout 2: 10/10 points |
Sequel to the best RPG ever... Even though I think it went a bit overboard it's still in the top in RPGs. |
Fallout Tactics - The Brotherhood of Steel: 3/10 points |
Um RPG? It's got even less RPGing the Deus Ex, and it's gameplay isn't all that great. I loved the engine though, but it was a travesty of the Fallout series. |
Final Fantasy VII: 6/10 points |
Little RPGing really, but a fun game with neat graphics. Too bad they lasted so long or it migh have gotten a better score... |
Final Fantasy VIII: 5/10 points |
Not even as enthralling as the 7th installment. It was hardly worth my time. |
Gothic: 8/10 points |
Good game. Nice layout. I don't know why exactly I didn't bite into it more though. |
Heretic: 6/10 points |
What exactly this is doing in RPGs is somewhat of a puzzle, but I'm giving it a fairly good review as it was great multiplayer fun. |
Heretic 2: 4/10 points |
As an RPG it wasn't much but it was a really nice setting. |
Heroes of Might & Magic 2 - Succession Wars: 8/10 points |
Great series, and the first of the series I jumped into. |
Heroes of Might & Magic 2 - The Price of Layalty: 8/10 points |
I had a great time with this game even though it had very little RPGing in it. |
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 - Armageddon's Blade: 7/10 points |
Good expansion for the original. Really added value to the game. |
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 - The Restauration of Erathia: 8/10 points |
Great game. Not really an RPG though as the campaigns didn't hold much roleplaying. But it was very versatile and loads of fun, whilst remaining turn based. |
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 - The Shadow of Death: 7/10 points |
Good expansion for the original. Really added value to the game. (Sorry for the lack of originality in this comment but the three of them really go together...) |
Hexen - Beyond Heretic: 7/10 points |
Hexen added slight RPG elements to what was known in heretic and was a pretty good follow up to it. I had even more fun with this one then the original personally. It had a more serious twist to it then Heretic too. |
Hexen 2: 4/10 points |
The transformation to the Quake engine dind't go as well as I had hoped, making it worst then the prvious two. |
Jagged Alliance 2: 9/10 points |
Great tactical game. The best tactical with RPG elements in fact. Problem is that it's RPG elements are too few... |
Lands of Lore 1 - The Throne Of Chaos: 9/10 points |
This one was really a great game. Enthralling story, great graphics, and a CD edition with Patrick Stewart (I actually never got the CD edition). Anyway, the game was awesome. Gets a point off because of the infinite creature spawners (though I think you could "kill" most of spawn thigns...) That's just a bad idea... |
Lands of Lore 2 - Guardians of Destiny: 6/10 points |
It was an OK game. The 3D was somewhat shaky. The story was ok, but not great. Only reason I finished this game is because of my love of the original. I didn't even bother with the third installment. |
Lord of the Rings: 7/10 points |
This was a good game. Not very original, but the CD version of it added value with voiceovers and animations. A bit too easy too - apart maybe for finding the cloacks. |
Might & Magic 3 - Isles of Terra: 8/10 points |
My favourite of the series. It had great puzzles, though a bit too many of them... |
Might & Magic 4 - Clouds of Xeen: 8/10 points |
It was a great follow up of the 3rd installment, and I lover the part about building your own castle :) |
Might & Magic 5 - Darkside of Xeen: 8/10 points |
This to me was more of a non-optional expand to the 4th installment... |
Might & Magic 6 - The Mandate of Heaven: 6/10 points |
The pass to 3D was good, but for some reason it simply wasn't as engrossing as it's previous installements to me. I played most of it but envutally got bored on the way. |
Pool of Radiance: 8/10 points |
Pool of Radiance was the first D&D to actually get me into the genre.
Well, come to think of it, it was the only one... |
Pools of Darkness: 5/10 points |
This one was kinda of of place when release. It had new graphics but I grew tired of the genre. |
Quest for Glory 1 - So You Want to be a Hero?: 9/10 points |
The best Sierra quest game in my book. It was great - THE ORIGINAL VERSION (Hero's quest). I found it's remake sucked really. Plus you could cary on the chracter in the second and third installment of the game... |
Quest for Glory 2 - Trial by Fire: 7/10 points |
Good follow up, but I didn't like the whole new setting. Wasn't as vintage as the original. |
Quest for Glory 3 - Wages of War: 5/10 points |
I bought this game, and remember enjoying it, followed the serires. But um. I don't even have a memory (other then buying and mildly enjoying it) of it... Unlike the other two installments. Goes to show this game simply wasn't as fun and innovative. |
Questron: 10/10 points |
This was a great game. The first RPG I really got into, and it included 3 modes of play (map, city and the lame 3d part near the end). It gets 10 because of the nostagia it brings me, but it was still an awesome game, specially for it's time. Plus the world was huge. |
Secret of the Silver Blades: 7/10 points |
I actually played Secret of the Silver Blades (and somewhat forgot about it). Didn't beat my experience with Pool of Radiance though. |
Stonekeep: 8/10 points |
It was a really good RPG. I wish the acting was better done however. The 2 or 3 showstopper bugs were really a pain in the ass as I got bitten by 2 of them. I beleive the patch fixes them all, though I managed to avoid them without it. |
Ultima 6 - The False Prophet: 9/10 points |
Best RPG of it's time really, and the ultima series for the most part are all great RPGs, the 6th installment was without fail. The only reason it doesn't score a perfect 10 is that I found the world "too stuck up"... a bit like "lawful" compared to "good" (at least In WFRP) |
Ultima 8 - Pagan: 6/10 points |
It had a great story and was fun, but it kind of betrayed the rest of the Ultima series. |
Ultima Underworld 1 - The Stygian Abyss: 9/10 points |
I don't know specifically why but even though it was rather linear (it's not like you could skip a whole lot of stuff) and it was in real-time, I simply LOVED this game. It had atmosphere style and a good story. |
Ultima Underworld 2 - Labyrinth of Worlds: 7/10 points |
It was a great game, however to me it just seemed to be a prologing of the license. It wasn't as innovative and barely introduced any new features to the engine, and the story wasn't as interesting as the first, but defenetivly more confusing (and not in a good way). The pacman part really sucked... Not to mention annoying bugs. |
Wheel of Time: 2/10 points |
Maybe Wheel Of Time readers would enjoy this very much, but I'm not one of them (maybe to my own loss), and the game wasn't in any way spectacular without it. Not to mention there's no roleplaying here... |
