At least not now. Although it seems to be ready. But the publisher doesn't release it now, is said to wait for a proper release date. This is what a thread in their forums suggests. And it also hints to the good relationship between developers and publishers (we could tell you a dozen similar stories, if we would not care about the developers who told us - but we care):
I'm fed up with this demo bullshit, too. I'm a developer. We developers have made so many demos that we stopped counting them. The ammount of (non-planned) demos we made for trade shows and the press disturbed developing process drastically, anyway. (And the september demo announcement wasn't made by devteam...)
The decision of publishing the demo is not on the developers' side, either. The decision makers on this case are the marketing guys (ok, whomever besides developers. I don't know the structure of the company enough to tell) who could "defend" themselves if they wanted to; they know about this forum (it's the forum of the product they're gonna be selling). Some of them are even on the member list.
So I keep pointing finger on them, but I can also tell something in their defence: the press. Although the games are developed for gamers, the press will sell the game or make it an underdog. You can't just publish the demo on the website (I would, though, but I don't have to keep in mind how to cover salaries and all the expenses of the company) and neglect that there are big gaming newspapers waiting for the "exclusive" demo. I don't like it but it's the way it is. | Source: Evil Avatar |
