The PS2 version of FFXI: Chains of Promathia has been examined at DailyGame, awarding a score of 9.2/10:
To give you some perspective, I've been playing Final Fantasy XI (PS2) since its U.S. launch, and I've been consumed by every minute of it. I play several times a week with the same group of real-life friends, and we're all around level 40, so we decided to set off and explore the additions in the Chains of Promathia expansion.
