Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic does a far better job of capturing the magic of the Star Wars experience than even the recent movies by virtue of the fact that BioWare seems to recognize what Lucas has forgotten. Star Wars isn't science fiction -- it's a fairy tale of knights and dragons gussied up with lasers and spaceships -- the game's incredibly rich storyline and brilliant dialogue follow that. KotOR's script is sad, funny, exciting, and moving, and is filled with richly developed characters with fleshed-out motivations that actually make you care about their fate.
