Some game franchises have become successful perennials, from Madden's annual updates to Final Fantasy and Mario sequels and spinoffs. Others end up with overwhelming reruns that drain every last drop out of a series (think Army Men). But Sony Online seems to be doing a careful job in expanding its EverQuest catalogue, via expansion packs for the "main" PC game and offshoots like its EverQuest Online Adventures for PlayStation2 and PC-based real-time strategy, Lords of EverQuest. Now the upcoming Champions of Norrath is looking to follow the trend.
