A review of Arx Fatalis has been posted at Gameraiders - with a final score of 88%. This is their conlcuison:
For those of you old enough to remember the Ultima Underworld games this game is very similar in its concept and playability. I really enjoyed the Ultima Underworld games, but after playing through them I really didn't have a great desire to go back and play all the way through them just to see if I could find something new since the time investment was substantial. The same is true of Arx Fatalis, I'm not sure I will ever go back and play it again. The storyline is linear, despite a few side quests, as with most RPG's, but I don't think I want to invest the time to "see if I can find anything new." Having said all that I did enjoy the game immensely, the game-play, sound and graphics as well as the lack of glaring technical problems all combined to make it an enjoyable game. I doubt this game will make a huge impact on the RPG gaming world, but it definitely has its place in it and I would recommend it to any RPG fan looking for a new and different gaming experience. Old enough to remember the Ultima Underworlds? Hell I was already old back then *g* |
