Another 'Fable' review has popped up on the 'net, this time at Next Level Gaming. This glowing piece awarded 94/100 and here's the intro:
Project ego, four years in the making. Touted as the most ambitious RPG ever made. The game that would revolutionize the way we play and the way RPGs are made. Fable, an above average action adventure that has some interesting RPGish elements wrapped in an amazing immersive experience. Personally I loved this game. Did it live up to its hype though? Most would say no but I believe that the expectations put on this game were way too unfair, maybe that was Microsoft’s fault maybe it was the medias who knows. What I do know is that Fable takes the idea of character development to a new level. This game is about you being a hero, and your fame with in the world you live in. Taking some cues from KOTOR, Fable allows you to chose your own adventure so to say, but not being as strict as KOTOR Fable allows your character to be anywhere on the good/evil spectrum. I for instance played a rogue thief ninja-looking character who really kept to himself and only took quests that benefited him financially. I must say that setting a plan for your characters personality early allowed me to enjoy the game more instead of just making up decisions as I went. This way I was able to see how my character was treated based directly on my vision of him instead of making decisions based on how I wanted the game to treat me.
