The Wargamer has posted some first impressions about Star Wars: Galaxies. The summary after the first week of playing is very positive:
I love the game. It's really all I've been playing, and when I come home from work, it's my main squeeze until the wife runs me off, or I pass out from exhaustion. It's far from complete, and for players who aren't accustomed to being part of the midwifing process of new MMORPGs, I would suggest they might be better off avoiding it for a month or so until some of the minor dings have been ironed out. Anyone considering purchasing an MMORPG should understand that they are works-in-progress, and patches to fix and upgrade these games are applied almost daily, even on the most mature of games. Purchasing a game today with a few issues is also to purchase a game that is likely to be continuously upgraded, tweaked and improved for the life of the game. Which isn't to say the games are seriously flawed, but rather that they will, like fine wine, get better and better with age. For me Star Wars Galaxies has been great fun so far, in spite of the problems, and I look forward to spending more time in the sandbox. |
