A new preview of Earth & Beyond has been published at CGO today (thanks ToTheGame). Here's a bit:
The guiding directive for Earth and Beyond is to create a persistent world game that's fun and rewarding when played in one-hour chunks at intermittent intervals. You'll be able to gain experience by exploring space, or trading, as well as through combat, so if you only have time for a quick jaunt around the galaxy you'll still make progress in developing your character. The model is unabashedly Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon, with you as Han. To that end your avatar will be visible to others when you're on a space station or communicating in space, and eventually you'll be able to customize it with new gear. Most of your efforts, though, will center around upgrading your skills and your ship, which is where you'll spend the most time in-game. While the game is not a simulation—you play with mouse and keyboard, much like Diablo—it does revolve around spaceship combat and navigation. |
