The next EQ2 expansion 'Echoes of Faydwer' has been checked out at IGN:
While a lot of the expansions and adventure packs for EQ have skewed towards one level grouping or another, SOE promises gameplay across all levels. With twenty new adventure zones in Faydwer, it was a bit easier for the development team to add in a variety of difficulty levels.

It's also unsurprising considering this expansion pack will introduce a new playable race called the Fae. These guys were always around in the background in the EQ franchise, but in the original EverQuest took a back role as one of the smaller and less significant races. With the breaking of the world before EverQuest II, the elven races abandoned their home cities in Faydwer as they felt the calling to help rebuild the two great cities. That left the door open to the Fae to grow and take on a larger role in the world. They even took over Kelethin after the wood elves abandoned it.
...and GameSpot:
Echoes of Faydwer takes place in the land of Faydwer, of all things, which was featured in the original Everquest games. Many of the areas will be familiar to players of the original Everquest, but most of them will have undergone changes of some sort or another. One of these is the gnomish city of Ak'Anon, which has been abandoned by the gnomes and overtaken by Clockwork enemies of various sorts. One of these is actually an outdoor raid boss called the Clockwork Menace, a huge, hulking robotic dragon that breathes fire. Other popular areas like the Steamfont and Butcherblock Mountains also make their return in the expansion.
