The Bard's Tale originally appeared as an RPG in 1985, gaining praise and commercial success. There were some sequels and spin offs, but in spite of a popular belief that the series should see a return or even a remake, nobody answered the call – until recently. So is this a return of a classic series? Well, not really. The new Bard's Tale is a contemporary game and no mistake, and doesn't really draw upon the conventions of the original Bard's Tale, except in its emphasis of the often overlooked role of a Bard (Dungeons & Dragons players will know what I'm talking about).
