Their final assesment on the clues they've gathered: All this is mere circumstancial evidence, of course, as is the fact that Final Fantasy X performed slightly under expectations for Square and a game reusing the same engine and characters would be one way for the strained company to recoup some costs without the need to produce a new game from scratch. The clues so far are far from conclusive, and this may all turn out to be idle speculation, but it's something to think about all the same. Source: gaminggroove
