Yet another 'Lionheart' review has popped up at Worthplaying today. They rated it at 7.2 out of 10 points.Overall however, Lionheart really feels like a game that you would have played around the Planescape era, and perhaps even before that. The locked resolution, dark maps, lackluster sound, and constant combat are all issues that hide the games much bigger problem with character balancing. What is truly unfortunate with Lionheart, and probably its biggest fault, is that its alternative environment and awesome premise simply didn’t come close to its potential. I can’t help but thinking there was a great story in here somewhere, something that could have been developed and expanded on ten fold. It would have been nice to see a new RPG series come along that didn’t feature elves, gnomes, and a thirty plus year old set of rules, but it’s not to be, at least not with this initial version of the game. |
