GameSpy allows its readers some column inches to discuss the recent changes (i.e. the new game enhancements) to Star Wars Galaxies.
Hello, and welcome to Onlife. There's little time for formalities this week. Big things are happening, not the least of which is the American holiday that's going on tomorrow. I wish you all an enjoyable one. If you've been reading the site for the past couple of weeks, chances are that you haven't missed the series of Star Wars Galaxies articles we've run recently, regarding the "New Game Enhancement." In case you have, here's a basic rundown of this monumental change to the game, quoted from our most recent article:

The "NGE," as it's called, will fundamentally change Star Wars Galaxies into a new game, turning what was a fairly "old-school" MMO into a more action-oriented experience, not unlike Diablo and Dungeon Siege. The changes will trickle down to every aspect of the game, from its formerly deliberate and methodical combat system to its expansive and highly-customizable class system.

"Fundamentally" being the key word here. Ya rly. Basically, it's a completely different game -- a game that new players might just like better (if it works, anyway, but more on that later). The real contention, though, is coming from veteran players. These people have basically had the game that they've been playing for going on three years transformed into something completely different, with little-to-input from them. When you take their wishes into account, questions about relative quality mean very little. Needless to say, a whole of these very people wrote in with feedback to our articles. I would like to dedicate this installment of Onlife to bringing to light what I feel are the most poignant responses.
