Vivendi's Chris Taylor has been interviewed at Gamespy in article format about the 'Middle Earth Online' delay:"This decision wasn't made lightly." Taylor said, "We started thinking about the delay close to the end of last year." In fact, according to Taylor, the decision to delay a product this large and this high profile was monumental - akin to stopping an ocean liner. That's because before something like this can be delayed, all the parties involved need to agree to it, the developer, the producers and marketers. Things like retail display space and advertising must be booked months in advance and have drop-dead dates for when they can be cancelled, so while marketing and advertising dollars had not yet been committed for these things, delaying the decision to hold the game could eventually have cost the company serious coin. |
