Talking about Asheron's Call 2: The official site holds an article about alien alphabets in Asheron's Call 2. They talk about the lugian and tumeron alphabet there. Here's a bit:
The Lugians have not been civilized as long as the other races. Prior to the creation of the first forge by Ghanna the Maker, the Lugians had been a clannish people, with the males squabbling for food and territory, while the females cared for the young and their ramshackle villages. The discovery of the forge a few thousand years ago changed Lugian society almost overnight, but the Lugians still have not had the same time other races have had to "refine" their culture. In addition, the Lugians tend to be a stoic people, their emotions run deep beneath their surface, like the earth they feel akin to. In reflection of these factors, their alphabet is stark and utilitarian, made up of a straight lines and strict rules.
Talking about strange alphabets: check out aUI - The Language of Space. This is a really unique and beautiful one. I happened to know the guy who wrote it, W. John Weilgart, Ph.D, in person - he spent one of his last holidays near my father's house. He was a weird, nice guy :-)
