Mythic's next MMORPG is pretty much the last thing one would have expected, and it's great when developers do this. As the developer of the PvP-focused, fantasy-themed Dark Age of Camelot, it couldn't have come further out of left-field with Imperator -- a non-PvP-based MMORPG that's basically about futuristic Romans fighting Mayan robots, in space.

Believe it or not, the concept is intriguing, well conceived, and even more well researched. For a developer that's stepping well outside its comfort zone, things seem to be going very smoothly. Mythic's Mark Jacobs was kind enough to speak to us at length about the project, and what we learned is really very exciting.
