Boomtown has put up a preview of Shadowbane, Wolfpack's soon to be released MMORPG. Here's an excerpt from their article, dealing with guilds, so you know what to expect there:
Going on to something different; Shadowbane has a very expansive guild system, which at the same time aims back at the original meaning of the word “guild” – meaning a group of people with the same class or profession.
This does not, however, mean that you are forced to choose the same class as the people you normally play with, in order to be associated with them. In Shadowbane guilds have the possibility of swearing fealty to other guilds. This way, by swearing fealty to each others, the guilds gets associated.
There are more than 10 different guild types in Shadowbane. Each guild type has one or more preferred classes or races. If you join a guild that does not have your chosen class or race as one of their preferred classes or races, it will result in a small penalty for you. This encourages players to stick with the original concept of guilds, without directly enforcing it.
When you found a guild you have to choose which kind of leadership the guild shall have. You can choose between democracy, republic, oligarchy, or monarchy. |
