David Allen, CEO of Pharaoh Productions, made an announcement on their boards that he is currently assembling a team to produce Demise 2:
For nearly two years, I have been considering what to do with DEMISE, but due to the limitation of time that I have to work on the project, I have been unable to come up with a good solution to the continuance of the game.

Right now, DEMISE is a niche product, but it has years of development behind it – something that makes it nearly infinitely re-playable. It is this strength that will allow DEMISE to evolve into something better than it is today.

I believe the solution here is to put together a new DEMISE 2.0 development team – a group of players who are skilled programmers – people who love the game and want to evolve it into the next generation of graphics.

What I am proposing is that a team from the player base is put together, and their goal is to rewrite the original DEMISE code to the .NET platform, upgrading the 3d engine, game graphics, models, network code, etc. Essentially convert the game to DX9.

This team would need to work under contract with Pharaoh and would be compensated for their work by being entitled to a percentage of any profit that the release of DEMISE 2 may obtain. Each individual involved will also receive full credit for the work they do. If the project evolves to a point where publishers are interested and it receives funding, these contractors will be hired on as employees of Pharaoh.
Some of you might remember Demise: Rise of the Kutan - a nice and rather unique dungeon crawl that has a loyal fanbase.
