Rend's Rants

Well, it's been some time since I did my last rant here, mainly because I took some time off from the site to persue some real life things, but since Moriendor, our recentky designated news chief, is away this week, and since I really start to miss doing news updates *g*, I am back helping the rest of the team filling the gap. This is not to say that I was lazy lately - I have worked on bringing back the newsletter to life, and the latest issue has been sent out before the weekend, bringing some exclusive content and sparking some nice discussions. Our newsletter is, of course free, and I invite you to subscribe to it and to take part there.

Now, late August is a rather dull time regarding RPG news - you can see that by the reduced amount of content we are able to find for our news. At the same time, visitor numbers are about cut in half as well. While, as site owner, I love to see a lot of visitors, and more visitors, this leaves me some time to play some games as well. On my harddisk at the moment: Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights, Divine Divinity, Warcraft 3 and Arx Fatalis. I hate to say it, but why should I lie: from those games, Neverwinter Nights is the one I find most disappointing. Well, not disappointing exactly, but I feel NWN is less than it could have been - and this applies to the SP campaign as well as to the toolset. I have a hard time to keep me interested in the single player campaign, and I really dislike the "documentation" for the Aurora toolset.

We are planning a layout change for RPGDot, and I am positive that you'll see the results this year. Nothing earthshaking, really, but we think that our navigation needs some improvement. A lot of content is hidden for those not actively searching for it, and we would like to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for. RPGDot has become the biggest source for detailed info about CRPGs, because we have added every little tidbit to our database we were able to find. So we are trying to bring more gems to the surface so you can pick them up more easily.

Well, that's enough for now. May I invite you to continue to direct your comments, suggestions and critizism to us? We are looking forward to your feedback and we will be more than happy to consider your ideas for our changes to the site.
