Hands up who thought BioWare had bitten off more than it could chew when LucasArts announced the developer would be creating a Star Wars RPG? BioWare succeeded in relating an epic tale based upon the Forgotten Realms but this was a different licence, one fanatically guarded by both creator and fans alike. Continuity with either of the two movie trilogies was not in question due to the licence’s remit demanding an experience set thousands of years in the past. However, the Republic and its Jedi defenders had existed far beyond even that timescale, so BioWare still had to make the game recognisable to fans while also trying to ignore the events that occurred on the silver screen.
