Ship Devices-Essential Knowledge and Lessons - that is the title of the latest Glimpse Inside at the official Earth & Beyond site. Here's what's the difference between passive and active devices:
Passive Devices: Pilots are not required to turn these devices on. Once a passive device has been equipped, the enhancements will automatically activate, similar to how shields and reactor systems work. Once a device is installed, it will operate immediately. Passive devices do not generally require energy utilization to work. For example, the Nishido Saigen device allows reactors to regenerate more quickly.
Active Devices: Pilots are required to activate (turn-on) active devices even after they have been equipped, similar to how pilots must activate weapons in order to fire at a hostile. Active devices typically require use of energy to maintain the effect. An example of an active device property is the ability to slow or paralyze a hostile enemy. The GETCo Eagle Wings is an active device that will reduce the mass of another pilot's hull. |
