Covetous

-The Scully Grave
In the dungeon, you will get to a point where there is a slight mist on the ground and a broken grave at one of the corners. Keep searching around there and you will find a little tunnel. Go through it and you will find a grave. Thats skully's grave. Put the skull down and he will give you a key to the next level of the dungeon. To get to the third level, search around the boulders on the second level where the tracks are split in two. There is a chasm beneath you. Go left , around the zombies and search behind those boulders and you will find the key to get to the third level where Skully's grave is.

-Helm of Radiance
On the third level, from the elevator, head North. The tunnels will go East, then North, then East again, crossing a chasm. Just follow the tracks. The first turn (a slow, steady turn to the South) after the chasm, you'll see a set of glowing rocks against the East wall. Find a way up those rocks and look behind them. It's partially buried in the ground. Bit's of it are sticking out of the ground, so you may have to look around for it.

-Where did you get Grigolet (Ghost Sword) to get passed the Sword Wraith?
Go to the southern part of the island, examine the river, jump in the river and swim into the tunnel. The Grigolet is on top of some rocks above water. You can hardly see the hilt sticking out, but it's there.

-To get the key for level 3 of Covetous...
On the first level.. look for a skull on a pole, it will start talking to you.. on the second level, look for a bunch of head stones. When you find his, he will give you the key.

-Where can I find the lich?
After retreiving the glyp, turn right and swim along the wall a bit... there will be a tunnel. When you're in that room, look for something that goes boom to move even further along.

-Getting the lift to work...
The lift is broken. You need a wheel to fix it. The wheel is in the room where the tracks go into the lava. Head back to the wench room. Turn the water off and place the wheel.

-There are 3 powder kegs in front of a passage that keep blinking at me.
Click on the front powder keg and they will all explode, taking the rock with it.

--== Semi Linear WALKTHROUGH #1==--
As submitted by:
Jared Mark aka EagleEye Dragon

When you first enter, the first cavern is pretty simple. It's a circle really. There are two caverns to your right. The first leads to the "square spiral" rampways that go up to the broken lift gears. The second one on the right goes down to where you meet the Sword Wraith.

Straight ahead is a conveyor belt passageway that brings you to the lava cavern. You must go straight north into this cavern then turn left (west). (You have people going north, then turning at the T, getting on the cart track, going back south into the first cavern, and back around... you're telling people to go in a friggin circle, man). Go past the cauldron, next cavern
turn north into the area with the boxes and get the gear.

Head back out. You can't follow the cart track out of here because there's rocks in the way. Go back to the conveyor passage. Jump up and get to the T in the passage. You can't go past the T further south, because the jump is too high, so you have to take the west passage of the T interesection and get on the cart path. When the cart path turns east, there's a ledge to your south with a green pool. Heal up.

Straight off the end of the elevated cart path (with the cart that is about to fall on you (and it does fall if you walk under it enough)), go into the square spiral rampway room, and follow it up. Follow the passage, fix the gears.

Note on this area: I have found that this place is VERY buggy. I had to do it 4 times before I got it to work right. You don't necessarily have to oil the gears from what I understand, but do it anyway just in case. If you mess up any step of this, you have to redo it all because the buttons on the lift will get bugged. I examined the buttons when they were bugged, and it
acted as if they weren't even there.

Fix the lift. Now, you MUST drop down through here, because there seems to be a bug where if you leave the area, things get messed up. So just drop down, defeat the Sword Wraith, open the chest with his key, press the button, get on lift, and hit top blue button.

Note on the lift buttons: There seems to be 4 levels the lift will go to. The level you are on is shown by where the red button is.

Level 2 is pretty straightforward. Push the cart to get through the boarded off area. Get into the Column cavern. To the east, behind the Column, is a bunch of rocks. Climb or jump over them to get to a bunch of crates. Hidden behind the crates is a small open crate with a key in it. Grab that to get to level 3. Go back over the rocks (there's nothing to see in the chasm across the chamber, or in the area across that chasm; not unless you
want some gems from killing the zombies there). On the west side of the cavern is a small alcove with Skully's skull. Talk with him, grab the skull, get the hell outta dodge back to the lift.

Level 3: Follow cart path across the pit. (Suffer through the earthquake first). Keep going to the next cavern. Cart path curves right and then dead-ends. In the northeast corner of the chamber is a rock formation with green, inside is a green pool. Heal up!

North side of the cavern (just west of the green pool) is another rock formation. You have to go around this formation and enter it from the west side. It's well hidden. Follow this path around. Next cavern is another "donut". There are rocks in the middle. Just go around them and continue onward.

Do NOT move the powder kegs around. Just touch them and the way onward will be blown open.

Okay, the grave room is kinda tricky, because there's this ghost that is very powerful, and doesn't seem able to be killed! (At least, I couldn't). There's a broken headstone immediately as you enter. This isn't it, move onward. The next headstone you see is nice, but it's not Skully's. Just west of that headstone is a boulder. Around the boulder is a small passage to Skully's grave.

When you drop the skull, the key will be on top of the headstone. Don't forget to pick it up! (like I did!)

Level 3 is pretty easy. It doesn't matter if you get the glyph before or after defeating the lich. I suggest getting it before you face the lich. Talk to Julia before AND after getting the glyph. The Column chamber is found through the north exit to the first "big water chamber". The Lich chamber is found through the west exit (the exit is hard to find, just look along the west wall).

After killing the lich (if you have the glyph already), go out of the chamber to where the skeleton is leaning on the table as if someone died there. Move the powder keg to on top of the grate in the floor... through this area is an exit to just NW of the main entrance to the dungeon... you'll come out in the water. Just make your way back to town.

-Spanky's Notes.
I spent a lot of time here. The problem was an occasional crash when there were earthquakes. I also had trouble finding out what to do next on two occasions. Towards the end, I wasn't sure what to do with Julia, the Wyrmguard. I decided not to kill her.

Blackrock has mysterious magical properties that negate all forms of spellcasting and the effects of magic potions. Except for Serpentwyne. Take a few bottles of those before you come.

Look out for pools of green water... drinking from them will bring your health up and keep you alive.

When you enter the caves watch out for skeletons. The Ghost Sword takes them down in a couple of hits. They will respawn shortly after you take them down, but if you spearate the ribcages fom the rest of their bodies... like putting them in your backpack, they will stop re-forming.

"I was getting tired of not being able to see, so I cast 'Light' before I entered the dungeon of Covetous and I had that light spell throughout the entire trip through. (Your Mana still goes down, but I had enough for the whole trip. Thanks, Arms of the Magii!)"

-Level 1

Finding The Lift Wheel

There is a conveyor belt leading North. A small cavern to the East and a cavern to the West with an elevated cart rail. Head to the East cavern to the spiral platform that twists up to a level above where you enter. On the other side of the spiral walkway is a book on the floor. It has a few tips...

"Strange visions occur when placing a chink of blackrock in the purple pools. -The green pools seem to have a healing effect."

Head up the spiral platform and head East down the tunnel. You will enter a large cavern containing a meachnical wench powered by a waterall from the ceiling... nearby is a book on Lift Repair.

"Steps to Repairing lift if gear wheel breaks... again!
1) Find new gear wheel.
2) Turn off water.
3) Insert new gear.
4) Turn on water again.
5) Lift should work."

Nothing to do here right now but remember this location.
Drop down the pit under the machinery. You will meet up with a skeleton (Lothar the Sword Wraith).

Challenge him through conversation after you insist you have an "important mission" and you need to pass on through. Make sure you have your Ghost Sword. Kill him, grab the key, and continue down the passage.

In the next cavern, there is a conveyor belt heading South and North... and a cavern heading West. Go North!

The conveyor will T to the North and to the West. Head West and Follow the cart rail up and South.

On the Far west side of the mines, past the large cauldron, along the cart rails leading down and West, there is a large cavern with pools of lava. The lift wheel is to the North (your right) here.. Grab it!

Fixing The Lift

Head back to the beginning of the level where you entered the mines and run up the spiral platform. There is a wheel valve on the wall. It turns off the water. Place the lift wheel on the axle underneath the naked gear. Grab the oil can and grease all 3 moving axles. Turn the water back on. The lift is now operational.

Jump down and unlock th chest and hit the button inside. Get in the lift, click on the top blue button and it takes you down to level 2.

-Level 2

When you get to the bottom, there will be a locked chest. You will return here later. This takes you to the next level... Head down the North cave.

You will enter another large cavern with lots of crates. Go East!

The passage is boarded up. Push the cart and break your way through. Continue North.

Another large cavern here. The Glyph Tower is to your right (East). Scully's grave is to the left (West).Grab him!.

"Cavern South of Tower level 1. In the next cavern, on the North wall. There is a small cave. When you enter the next cavern, the lights will go out (Spooky!). There is a green mist on the ground. The lights will come back on in a moment. On the West wall there is another small tunnel. Follow it! The next cavern has two grates in the floor and a couple of tables.. There is a handful of healing potions in the crates here and a Green Healing pool.

The 'Two Grate Room' is basically a means of being able to kill the Lich in Covetous without losing the special sword 'Gringolet'. (Usually you lose this, upon entering the Liches' room). I figured out this area by getting stuck on Level 1 when I couldn't locate Skully's skull. (the skull on the stick. I didn't know you had to click on the carts.) NOTE: Make sure you get the Glyph of Sacrifice first, before proceeding! If you don't, you'll have to re-enter the dungeon from the top. Inside the 'Two Grate Room', on the North wall is a usual cluster of rocks. Climb the rocks and grab the 'powder keg' from behind the rocks. Put the powder keg next to the grate farthest away from the rocks w/the powder keg and then click on it. The powder keg blows up, effectively opening the grate. Btw, be careful with the grate closest to the rocks with the powder keg: I fell in, moved around a bit and entered the bugged 'void' space... eeeek!

Jump into the now-open grate and you'll be in a room like the one you just left, but now with a HUGE Skeleton. Kill him (he's a wimp vs. Gringolet) and jump in the open grate. (Same one that you opened.) Now you'll be in yet a third room, just like the first with the powder keg, however this one has a cave entrance along the South wall that will lead to, eventually, a snug little hallway with two chests on the right and a 'dead end' on the left. Looking at the 'dead end' wall, look a bit more left and there's a brick pushed out from the wall. Click the brick, the wall opens, and you'll be able to kill the Lich and his minions. After (and only after) killing the Lich, the Blackrock Crystal Ball will appear in one of the two chests. To exit, jump in the 2nd grate yet again and you'll find yourself in a hole with water. Head down into the water and you'll eventually come out near a beach on another portion of the island, so make sure you have the Glyph of Sacrifice first.

-SubRat"

To the East, Past the Glyph tower, Climb the rocks. Behind some boxes, you should find an iron key. Head back towards the lift and open the chest.

Hit the button and the lower level is opened. Go down the lift.

-3rd Level

When you get to the bottom. Notice the locked chest.

Head to the North tunnel. You will enter a large cavern. The cart rail spans a wooden bridge going East. To your left, around the pit, you will find a small cave. (It's buggy here. It might look like lava or you might see nothing at all.) Not sure whats here though...Continue around the pit and head East down the cart rails.

Skully's Grave

You will enter a large cavern. To the East wall you can see green up above some rocks. Climb up there and drop into the small cave. There is a healing pool here..

The cart rails stop at a dead wall. Along the North wall you will find a small cave behind some large boulders. Go there!

Continue North.

You will enter a small cavern with 3 powder kegs. Click on one and the wall behind it will explode. Go down that cave!

Scully's grave is on the North side of the next cavern. Place his head on top the grave marker. He gives you a Key! Head back out the way you came to the lift, open the chest, hit the button and go down to the next level.

The Lich

When you get down, behind the lift on the South wall, in the black, there's a secret cave. Go find it!

At the end of this long tunnel will be a cavern with a pool of water. You will find a Bladed Staff here. Head back out and continue down the North tunnel along the Cart Rails.

You will find your self swimming. Have a blue potion handy just in case.

When you enter the underwater cavern, head along the West wall (left). There is a cave underneath. Go there!

You will come up out of the water and meet a few ghosts. Set the powder kegs off by clicking on one. Head down the new path.

The entrance to the Lich's Vault is here. The pentagram on the floor tell you to "Sacrifice the Swordwraithe's Bane to enter the liche's reign" Drop your Sword.

Fighting The Lich

Use the Bladed Staff against the Zombies. When you kill the Lich, a crystal ball appears on the pentagram. Touch it and a path will be revealed to the North wall.

Inside you will find the Blackrock Crystal Ball. Head back to the underground lake.

Take the underwater tunnel at the North side. When you swim under, keep going straight. Eventually you will re-surface to meet a wyrmguard (Julia).

Offer to have her Join you! Ask her about love. I didn't kill her.

Jump in the water and enter the tower for the Glyph.

There is a tunnel on the east side with blackrock fragments and gems.

Head back to the lift and get out. Go to Minoc.
