A review of Everquest: Planes of Power has been posted at IGN.PC. Their rating is 7.8/10, and their closing comments reveal some of the shortcomings of this addition to the most popular MMORPG ever:
Planes of Power is a solid addition to the world of EverQuest, but it's steep level requirements will keep a good majority of the players in the game from taking full advantage of the expansion. Not every player in EQ will reach level 60, and a good 95% of this expansion is tooled for that level range. For those players who are that high, you now have a whole bunch of zones to explore and gods to meet and fight (hopefully The Tribunal in the Plane of Justice will judge you well).
The Plane of Knowledge is a high point of the expansion, as it opens up the game world for newer players. However, for casual players that isn't really worth $30 to have. Hardcore EQ'ers (such as myself) will definitely get the most use out of it, but if you're trying to decide on what expansion to get I'd honestly recommend either The Ruins of Kunark or The Shadows of Luclin over this one. |
