Morrowind Summit has posted 10 tips for Mod Makers. Here's one I find quite essential:
4. Think about where other people have their mods located. I think I speak for a lot of frustrated mod users when I say that you people need to stop putting your damn mods in Balmora!! I’m sure most of you have experienced the frustration that occurs when your newly-downloaded mod turns out to be smack in the middle of one of your old favorites, thus preventing you from accessing either mod (the old “building-within-a-building” problem). Know what the popular mods are, and know where they’re located. Don’t put your mod in an obvious location - it’s probably been taken up by another. The classic location for a house is the hill right behind the Balmora Pawn Shop. Don’t do it. I know of at least three mods off the top of my head that have already taken up that location. In fact, keep your mods away from Balmora if you possibly can. For some reason, everybody puts their mod in Balmora. There ARE other cities in Morrowind, you know. |
