Gamerevolution serves us a preview of Earth & Beyond, Westwood's upcoming space MMORPG. Here's something from this preview:
So what do you do, exactly? Well, that's a hard question to answer since you can play the game any way you want to. Unlike many traditional MMORPGs, combat is not the only way to gain experience. Making new discoveries and even trade will yield experience points. If you can obtain the blueprints and collect the right parts from around the galaxy, you can even build new weapons! For example, you can visit Ookla to get the blueprints, grab the Minox gas from the Senorg system and the XL-77 Space Modulator from Roclaxx and you've got yourself a nifty new Zendrax Thunder Cannon! How cool is that?
Similar to most RPGs, the missions will come from one of the many NPCs you'll find throughout the universe. You'll always be able to find them and other players at one of the many star bases located throughout the game. However, you don't have take any of these missions if you'd rather just roam the galaxy, but for those in need of some direction, this is where you'll find it.
In addition to meeting up with other characters at these bases, you'll also find shops that will cater to your every need. From ship upgrades to various items, you'll be able to find it all at a star retailer nearest you. |
