Best PVP in any game I've played, including DAoC and Ultima Online. A tight small community makes it unique in these days of huge games and servers, and it's an adrenalin rush. |

Older game, but has a great community feel due to the smaller servers which you don't get on the bigger games.
Secondly, the PvP and guild systems in this game are the best I've seen in ANY game. The former is very balanced and adds a fast-paced thrill, while the latter has tons of customizable options and guildhalls to own/conquer. |

Possibly the best MMORPG I've played. The community is unparalleled by any other out there. With the small community (about maximum of 110 on 101 and 75 on 102), the excellent PvP (See: The Meridian Shakes =), the personable admins, and the frequent and original events, it definitly comes out on top. The graphics may not be the best but you don't even notice once you get immersed into the game.
The original mini-games and other aspects are totally original to the genre. The assasin's game (where you get a dagger and have to kill your target before they kill you), in game chess, and most fun are the Frenzys. A no holds-barred, penalty free, free for all where you can test your PvP skills to the limit.

I have been playing meridian for a very long time now, it does not have the best graphics, it does not have the best 3d feel, it does not have the best sounds, and music.. but it has the BEST gameplay, and the personal friendships allys and enemies you make on your neverending adventure especially with the best guild system anywhere will prove to you as well that its more than just a game. This game represents alot of things, each day is based on how the population feels as a whole about issues or disagrees. The wars are great, the PVP system in meridian blows the others out of the water. Not only that, 99% of the women are always up for a lil flirtin ;P if you are looking for more than just a game, but a positive experience that you can look back on for years to come, you should definitely give Meridian a chance. I play on server 101 if you decide to try it please try to get a hold of me. I and most likely everyone else will be more than happy to help out someone new to the game. Look forward to meeting you peeps.

This is the first online RPG I played years ago. I made lots of friends, had a great time playing. The game isn't overly complex and does give a good challenge. Be it fighting the various NPCs, dodging the PKers or later turning the tables and hutning down the PKers. Unlike EQ and DAOC where there's thousands of players on all the time on every server the community here is smaller, but that just brings us all closer together. Which leaves me feeling like I'm a part of the whole instead of just a drop of water in an ocean like in those other games.
So when an old friend told me NDS revived the game I couldn't wait to sign up and join all my old friends for some more good times. I love the improvements NDS has made since the revival and look forward to what they're going to add next. |

The most User Friendly game I have come across. The graphics arent the greatest but what you lose in that you gain in the best PvP/PvM engine. that has never been equaled. The Game its self is free to Download and a Low monthly usage fee. No store shelf updates that you have to keep buying... Try it for a Month. Hope to see ya on Server 102 |

Meridian is a unique game in the world of mmorpgs. The versatility of how you can build your character surpasses any other game. Your character stats and magic/weapons skills are completely customizable, and you may build a character to YOUR choosing rather than only preset templates. The PvP engine is arguably the best in existence, and within Meridian you are accountable for your actions unlike many other games. There are player killers as well as hunters who try to keep them in check. Your characters growth is not dependant upon unlimited play hours or belonging to an uber guild, a casual player can do just as well as a powergamer. The smaller community leads to closer friendships and a greater "real" feeling to the game. Roleplaying is a genuine option in Meridian, you can customize your character and add your own personality to become whatever you want to be.
The limited content (most of the game is based upon player interaction) and old graphics engine are the only real drawbacks to the game that limit its rating. |

Everquest kept my attention for all of a month. I ended up leaving that game as it left absent all of the reasons I play Meridian. Server 101 offers a dynamic community of people, some of whom I've known since the age of 12 - Togather we build our charecters, an effort in Everquest that often felt like a chore. For many years this game has been around, and even the most adept player has yet to discover all of the game's secrets.
A month ago my dad asked me what class my charecter was. You know, wizard, ranger, lather, rinse, repeat, yawn. Meridian never bought in to that. Charecters start off a blank page with you the author to choose what they will become. There is no ubber build, or ULTRA-MEGA-DEATH spell =/ Nor will you often find two identical charecters, even among the best PvPers. Your charisma is based on your personality, not some stat point. Your path is not preset, you choose. The game has lasted, because it's the best. Hope to see you there |

I love this game. It's fun and friendly. It's challenging but not impossible. And it's a great way to work out some of my frustrations of the day.
I love the PvP aspect of it, although I personally do not get into that. I love the thrill of knowing someone could attack me at any moment.
I also enjoy the diversity of spell schools. Role playing becomes very easy if you stick to one or two schools.
The graphics leave a little something to be desired, but there are so many other features that the graphics sort of become a non-issue. |

The adrenaline rush you get when playing this game in a PvP situation will get you hooked in a split second. Yes it is ugly, old, very ugly and extremly old for a game! But i don't even notice anymore because everything else is just perfect! Now you are asking why the 10 / 10 then!?!? The community is really tight and mature, I'd say most players are in there late teens thru early twenties. Guilds wars, making allies, making enemies, selling, trading, pvp, magic, fighting, leveling up your character, this game has it all. My favorite online RPG game by far, nothing comes even close to it! |

Great community, character advancement that doesn't involve endless camping, balanced PvP, loyal friends, fierce enemies, unique spells, even a bit of real role-playing.
If an online RPG could offer more, I don't want to see it. I spend too much time on Meridian 59 as it is! A real classic game. Highly recommend server 102. |

This game has something no other game I have ever played has. A real feeling of community. It is like going to a party every night with 100 people, some you hate, some you love and some you could care less about. The graphics are not the best out there, but the game play, the in game mail system, the events, the PVP, and bottom line..the friendships makes it by far the best there is.
If you have 30 minutes to play, you can get something done, unlike other games where it takes an hour just to find people to play with. But you will find yourself immersed in the world of Meridian very quickly.
Guild wars and pkers make it on the edge of your seat exciting. Just try it and you will agree. See you on 101. :) |

I'll begin with what I dislike about the game first, since it will be a brief comment:
In reference to the graphics, "adequate" would be a VERY generous term to use. But this is only in comparison to newer RPG releases. When the game came out in '96, the graphics were concidered excellent.
It's like this:
A 1966 Chevelle just isn't going to sparkle and shine quite like a new Mercedes. But if put them side by side on the strip, the Chevelle is gonna blow the shiny doors off that Mercedes!
This game is probably one of the brightest works in the history of RPGs.
The PvP physics are brilliant, spell schools are evenly balanced, yet each are wicked in their own way, the game has one of the most advanced guild systems I've ever seen, and the socal environment remains the best of any game out there.
M59 is like the "Mayberry" of the online RPG world. Everyone knows everybody, and no one is a stranger. Your not a needle-in-a-haystack like in some of the newer games.
It's this simple: Don't judge the game by the screenshots. If you do, your missing out on one of the best things to happen to the internet since email.

This is the best RPG of it's day, and to my opinion it still is in some cases. EQ has it all, graphics and the loot. But M59 has the community, and PvP and the not camping fer crap. I suggest ya just try it out and see for yourself, sure it's a lil expensive but they have to charge a lot because they don't have very many customers....yet. hey, from what i've heard and seen this is an awesome game. and its like the oldest online game around still, or one of the oldest. and its got awesome GMs and shit, you know you got a great game when you got gm's who themselves who've been playing for years, rather than some moron who does it for work and doesn't even understand why people role play... i know for a fact there's one in particular that the shitnit...
