Gamecloud's John Callaham sits down to discuss "Direct Song" with famed game composer, Jeremy Soule, in this highly interesting interview...
Jeremy Soule has composed critically acclaimed musical scores for a number of major game titles, such as Dungeon Siege, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and more. Now Soule is entering into a new musical venture called Direct Song, which will add officially approved musical tracks into games via the Internet. Gamecloud got a chance to chat with Soule about Direct Song, which will begin with new tracks for ArenaNet's hit action-RPG Guild Wars.
Gamecloud - First, how did the idea for Direct Song first come to you?
Jeremy Soule - I probably thought of the Direct Song idea a couple of years ago. I kept seeing games that were sorely short in the amount of music they contained. Many games were still shipping with 30-40 minutes of music in those days. I started thinking of creating a delivery system that would be fast, convenient and low-priced for our customers.
