The staff over at GameSpy have unveiled their Developer Diary #11 - featuring inXile's Tom Richardson from Marketing doing a Bard's Tale discourse on what he appropriately entitles the "Truth In Advertising..."

Let me start by explaining something that confuses a lot of people - inXile is actually a publisher as well as a developer, which means we not only create the game but we are responsible for promoting, manufacturing and selling it as well. We've partnered with Vivendi as our distributor to help with some of the tricky stuff, like driving truckloads of games around the country but culturally, inXile is a development studio. That means it's full of creative people making games and it's not cluttered with "suits" concerned with marketing budgets, sales forecasts, sell-in and other necessary evils of being successful. I used to work at a pretty big publisher, surrounded by marketing people like me and I learned a lot but working directly with the development team is the difference between watching a baseball game from behind home plate instead of the nosebleeds.
