Over at RPGPlanet, you can find an interview with the Mimesis Online team about their upcoming MMORPG which is now in beta. Here's a question about how it will be played:
RPGPlanet: Will Mimesis Online be mission based or will you be able to do as you wish, whenever you desire?
Derek: Well, maybe not absolutely as you wish, whenever you desire...what about propriety? Just kidding. Above all, players are able to choose in this game. They aren't forced into taking part in a particular mission, or joining a particular group or organization. Players can be explorers of the game world, or they can go on missions. They can try to find employment as guards, or teachers, or become traders. They can treat the game as a shoot-'em-up if they want to, although I think they would lose out a lot if they did that.
Piotr: The missions and events are things that are going to add plenty of spice to the world, and develop and give shape to the plot, but they aren't things that you have to do. Artur (Jaskoski - Head of Tannhauser Gate Studio) and Marcin (Baryski - Co-Founder of the Studio, and Head Game Rule Developer) always had in mind a game with plenty of freedom, so that's what they created. |
