Amid the smells of sushi and sake(Japanese rice wine), EA introduced Ultima Online: Samurai Empire during their Hot Summer Night event, giving us a first look at the seventh expansion pack to EA’s popular MMORPG. This comes not long after the cancellation of Ultima X Online, EA’s next generation MMORPG, which makes this introduction all the more interesting. However, as EA explained to us within the first few minutes of their presentation, this expansion pack was a no-brainer for them; the UO community peaked at more than 250,000 players(a record high) when the fifth expansion pack Age of Shadows was released last year, so the community is still clamoring for more after all this time, and EA intends to provide it(the $3mil+/month they can earn doesn’t hurt, either).
