Gamesdomain have put up a preview of Call of Cthulhu, the horror Lovecraft-inspired game to be published by Bethsoft. Here's a snip:

Secondly, there's currently no HUD whatsoever. COC aims to give the player the Cthulhu Mythos the way it should be experienced - atmospheric, immersive and paranoid. No HUD means no reassuring, artificial, techno-visual cues as to aiming, status, ammo or the presence of threats. If you want to shoot a gun at someone -- or something -- you can damn well take your chances and eyeball down the barrel like the rest of us. If you're slowly stumbling and leaving a spattered trail of your own gore down some grotty, diseased hallway, that's a pretty good indicator that you're badly hurt; if your gun is impotently going click-click-click on empty chambers, that is an excellent sign that you have run out of ammunition; and you will, trust us, have no doubt when some threatening Thing is lurching down the hallway for you.
