Thanks to Plex, Community Manager at JoWood for sending along word of another forum FAQ update (in German).
I'll once again try to beat Bablefish:- Q: Will there be unlimited save slots?
A: No. There will be about 20 slots for saving.
- Q: Except for sheep and meat bugs, are there going to be any other common animals?
A: Yes. There will once again be animals like wolves or rats etc.
- Q: Will the day/night cycle play a more important role in Gothic II?
A: Yes. The day/night cycle has an influence on some quests and other situations but it's dealt with in a reasonable way because we don't want the player to miss out on anything important.
- Q: Can we expect any significant AI (Artificial Intelligence) improvements?
A: Let me give you an example: After I used my pick-pocketing skill on a woman in town (she noticed but I managed to get away with the loot), I went up to the guard commander to get my next assignment. He told me, however, that I was being accused of thievery and that I would have to pay a fine of 50 gold pieces. "Crap", I thought. The grail I stole from the lady wasn't even worth that much...
- Q: Are there more dungeons/caves this time around?
A: Compared to Gothic I, there will definitely be more dungeons, e.g. small cave systems, mines, sewers, and much more.
- Q: Will it be possible to get weapon upgrades?
A: No, you will not be able to upgrade exisiting weapons. You will, however, be able to create your own weapons which are going to be of a better quality than those you can buy from merchants. We thought this concept would be more appealing to gamers.
- Q: Will we be able to kill important, story related NPCs to change the course of events?
A: There will be very few "Immortals" in Gothic II. But some NPCs just have to be immortal because they have to provide the player with valuable information.
