Last night, I was greeted with a wonderful surprise, waiting for me on the doorstep when I got home. It was a hulking package that ultimately revealed itself to be the Collector's Edition of NCSoft's Guild Wars once I ripped apart the shipping box. One of the perks about working for a gaming website is that occasionally you receive product without any warning, especially collector's editions that are jam-packed full of extra goodies like toys, books and soundtracks (we get that stuff too even without collector’s editions, including cigarette lighters, shirts, cigars and whatnot). It also gives us a chance to play the games before they are actually available on the market. Given that I have an addiction to RPG games, Guild Wars found its way onto my hard drive without hesitation.
