Indie developer Crosscut Games -- the guys behind the 'RuneSword' series -- has announced Dungeon Delvers. It's described as a 'role-playing board game for PCs' and while not strictly a CRPG, could be fun. The idea is based loosely on the board game 'Talisman' and here's a snip from the website: Q: What is Dungeon Delvers?
A: We're calling Dungeon Delvers a role-playing board game for PC's. It doesn't fit a simple niche in the market; we can't point to another computer game and say "It's like that only slightly different."
One of the things we wanted to bring to the computer is the feel of great fantasy-themed traditional board games -- well-crafted rules with a huge depth of possibilities wrapped in a tight, stylish design. The main goal is to make it easy to play so folks who haven't tried RPGs might give the game a try and really enjoy themselves. We wanted a game you could set and play for a short amount of time all the while leaving you with a "just-one-more-play" feeling.
Another goal is to inspire others to create expansion cards and characters - and make it really, really easy to do just that. We love the mod community and still believe it's the players who make the game.
Dungeon Delvers is not a translation of a traditional board game to PC game. Our design is a pure computer game, but with the soul of a great board game. |
