A new Asheron's call 2 Team letter has been published at the official site. Ken Karl about the chat system and authentication issues:
And now for the past week and a half, a growing problem has come to light. We have been dealing with a bug which is causing our chat servers to crash. As a result, players have become unable to use directed chat, allegiance or fellowship chat, friends list and see the world list, and sometimes they fail to authenticate into the game. The team has been working very hard to isolate the bug and fix it. Fortunately, we have finished a fix and it is now in testing. As soon as it passes testing, we will apply it to the server. I would expect that to happen in the next day or two.

It is very unfortunate that we've had this series of interruptions. I personally want to extend my apologies and thank each of you for being so patient while we work to resolve these issues.
While this has been going on, we have been working very hard to give you an incredible February Episode. It will mark the beginning of the Live team evolving the ongoing story as well as some other very cool things. For those who are new to the Asheron's Call series, if you were happy with December or January at all, you should really enjoy February.
