Divine Divinity: Cheat Guide, Items (Back to contents)

List of lost items
The inventory files

Be sure to read the previous page, before using any of the listed files here.

Inventory Files
These files contain only the items specified (in the inventory pane, nothing equipped).

The inv.* files keep track of every item you are carrying, every item in all opened/moved/identified chests, and the inventory of every NPC. You must backup and restore your own original inventory files to prevent various quest (and other) items from disappearing, since it is highly unlikely that you have done all quests in exactly the same order as Raze did.

Please do a thorough search of the forums and/or ask for help before determining that this is the only option left. Swapping game files around should only be done as a last resort. For items which should be dropped, run your mouse slowly over the area, it could have landed near a southern wall, or be otherwise obstructed.

The Inventory Files
Ancient pyramids
(58KB) - After you become the Divine One, your teleporter stones get replaced by ancient pyramids. If you have not yet reached the wastelands, the inv.* files for the teleporter stones are below. If you forgot to bring one or both of the teleporter stones with you, you can find them very well hidden here.

Boratus
(118KB) - This contains two sets of inventory files, the key Boratus should drop when you kill him (best option), and the book from the chest the key opens (use only if there is a problem with the chest itself).

Ceremonial items
(57KB) - Two items are just to the left of the desk; Josephine should drop the staff, though it is sometimes in the chest at the back of the room. The download contains book, trophy and staff.

Corinna's Summoning quest
(53KB) - The items needed to complete the quest Do I want to summon a demon? - the Book of Summoning, Bottle of Exquisite Wine, and a branch from the Talking Tree in the Dark Forest.

Cybu's letter
(40KB) - This contains the letter dropped by the assassin that killed the Duke, required (if you decided to deal with Cybu yourself, rather than report to Commander Ralph first) to complete the Duke's Murder quest. In some cases it fell into an area where it was impossible to pick up.

Dragon Amour
(58KB) - This is from a save immediately after getting the armour, before identifying it. This should reduce or eliminate the problems with items that have random stats. Even if it does morph, the stats are reset when it is forged with the Dragon Heart, so it will work to complete that quest.

Dragonheart gem
(61KB) - This should be dropped by the dragon rider Rak-Sheen in the abandoned imp castle/Dark Forest and is necessary for completing the Dragon Armour.

Dwarven Council quest items
(58KB) - The Axe of Stone, and the letter to Gregor implicating him in the theft. Some gamers have given both to Eolus instead of the Dwarven King. though the patch version 1.0034 requires only the letter to trigger the Dragon Amour speech option with the Dwarven King.

Elrath items
(45KB) - Contains the letter and two cure potions from Dr Elrath's basement. As soon as you have the letter, the final cut scene with the Doc is triggered and further access to the house impossible - the patients can't be cured if the potions were forgotten.

Elrath's house key
(36KB) - Until you confront the good doctor with the letter from his basement, you should be able to lockpick the front door (Lockpick level 2 required).

Explosives barrel
(37KB) - This was given to you by Captain Mitox. Some people have run into a problem with it disappearing.

Eye of the Cyclops
(44 kb) - item required for solving the 1st Warrior Guild quest/Dark Forest. This download is version 1.0034a.

Finnegan's magical lockpicks
(32KB) - The lockpicks are in a barrel in the inventory; open the barrel and drop the lockpicks on the ground, but leave the barrel in your inventory. The barrel is important, please read the additional description:

In a game started after installing the v1.33 patch, Finnigan's magic Lockpicks no longer break when dropped on the ground, so it is possible to recover them by swapping inventory files (even using a game started before the patch was installed). After returning them to Finnigan and completing the quest, he will even sell them back to you cheap. Also (in a game started after installing the patch), Finnigan is a good source for lockpicks and traps, and has miscellaneous equipment and the odd minor charm.

There has been a change in the game's bookkeeping between the 1.32 and 1.33 versions, however, so if you swap inventory files or use a hex editor to put them directly into your inventory your agility will drop by 20, and you will need the bonus on the lockpicks just to break even. With the magic lockpicks in a container in your inventory, though, the bonus is not applied and nothing is carried over into a different game when swapping inventory files.

Heartseeker, Penumbra's dagger
(46KB) - This should be in the south west room of the City Watch building, past commander Kratus' quarters in Verdistis.

Holy items for the sacrifice
(54KB) - Contains the three holy items: sword, dagger, amulet.

Imp Council Quest
(58KB) - Use this only if you can not get the house key from the queen bee (due to a problem with the cut scenes, for example), and can not re-load. Getting the key this way results in a broken quest, but will allow you to complete imp council member quest.

Malcom's finances book revealing his treachery
(45KB) - from Malcolm's house in Verdistis. If you have talked to Maria in the poor quarters and got the quest to clear her name, this ledger book should be on top of a cupboard in his bedroom.

Mardaneus Council Quest
(52KB) - The key should be straight into Lanilor's house in Aleroth, past the entrance and sitting on top of the bookshelves, with a banner and a plant; try the alt key.

Nericon Garden items
(45KB) - Contains the key to the garden from Blake in Ars Magicana, and the book from the three guys out front. Another possibility is entering the alchemist's back room and take the key you find there. Instead of using it on the chest in his bedroom, you can use it to open this garden, too - but if you lost the book, you'll have to use this download in any case.

Pedro's letter
(44KB) - The letter Pedro drops in the Ars Magicana sewers, as part of the Tingalf/Marcus/Depot quest.

Poison flask for the Orc well
(44KB) - This was given to you by Captain Mitox and is necessary for the 2nd Mitox quest.

Portable bed
(41KB) - This portable bed is located north of the cursed Abby, in a house along the eastern side of the river. If you forgot to bring it to the wastelands with you, here it is. Otherwise, keep close to the river, and you will avoid the majority of the undead in the area.

Rimmer Ale, 5 bottles
(41KB) - A stack of ale, necessary for entering the area that upgrades the Silver Armour.

Silver Breastplate
55KB) - the Silver armour from the chest in the Stalker's cave/Dark Forest. This will morph slightly (as expected, not swapping the items.000 file), but will work to trigger the easter egg teleporter and can be upgraded to Larian armour. Raze tested this in a v1.32 game with a v1.33 set of inventory files.

Sword in the Stone
(31KB) - Fake Excalibur, if you want to put it back to re-seal the demon, but don't know where the original is.

Talking Tree items
(54KB) - Contains the branch from the talking tree, as well as the herb required by the alchemist. If you kill the tree before having both quests, you'll miss oone of these items.

Teleporter Scrolls
(58KB)

Teleporter Stones
(32KB) - warning: These are suppose to get stolen when you enter the castle, and are returned after you rescue Zandalor and he teleports you to a new location (check the north west room after clearing that area). If you do not have a teleporter stone when you enter the castle, they will either disappear or stop working until the point they would have been returned; this is part of the plot.

Thieves Guild items
(95KB) - Apparently there can be problems if you do not complete both quests within some time frame. The pickpocket folder contains the inventory files for Sweeney's necklace, the lockpick folder contains the files for Rob's bottle of ale. The necklace description may get morphed, but will still work to complete the quest.

Tipsix key
(35KB) - The golden key Tipsix drops in the poison cave, for the door in the cellar of the Blue Boar inn.

Treasure maps
(57KB) - four maps
