Here's a press release about Gothic 2 weapons:
JOWOOD ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL DETAILS ON THE WEAPONS IN GOTHIC II
Press Release Rottenmann - November 15, 2002 / JoWooD Productions is proud to announce official details on the 150 weapons featured within the epic role-playing PC game Gothic II, each of which will require specific strength and dexterity prerequisites to successfully use, and every one causing a different level and style of damage.
As players are thrust into the gripping action they will be forced to fight for survival as dangerous and powerful adversaries prowl the island. Gamers will therefore need to quickly equip themselves with suitable weaponry to defend against attacks and ambushes as they roam the land.
Players will be able to utilise a vast selection of swords, ranging from a simple dagger to the incredibly powerful Dragon Slayer via Greatswords and Blades Of Ruby, each bringing exponentially more flesh tearing pain than the last to unfortunate victims. To provide added realism, each of the powerful swords requires the player to be properly trained before they can handle it properly…
There is also the opportunity to create carnage with a wide range of axes. Gamers have the opportunity to progress from a simple sickle, through pick axes and double-headed battleaxes all the way up to the gruesome Torturing and Berserkers Axes, both of which will cause immeasurable agony to anyone in the path of their swing.
Gothic II also makes available a broad selection of battle hammers and maces for use in combat. Of course, battering someone with a poker will do minimal damage. However, as players progress and increase their strength, they will be able to wield Heavy Spiked Cudgels, Bone Crushers and eventually the skull crunching Heavy Battle Hammer.
Even a selection of lightweight fencing blades is included in the Gothic II world. These include a rapier and a Pirate's sabre, and demonstrate the true variety of ways players can hurt their opponents in the game!
Lastly there is a vast selection of long-range weapons at the player's disposal. From a basic Short Bow, players can develop their skills in order to wield weapons from the Long Bow and Battle Crossbow all the way up to the armour-shatteringly powerful Dragon Hunter's Crossbow, one of the most destructive weapons in the world of Gothic II.
Gothic II will be released in the UK and US in Q1 2003. |
