IGN's RPGVault has published a preview of Horizons, Artifact entertainments upcoming multiplayer RPG. Here's a bit from that:
The new Horizons also features a visual style that is much more in keeping with traditional fantasy. Readers will see this in our recent E3 gallery. The demo showed some of the races that will populate the game including Fiends (rather gothic humans) Dwarves, and Humans. Artifact would not tell us what other races will be available at come launch because the team doesn't want to state anything that might be delayed. However, team member David Bowman told our Horizons Vault that new race will be announced as they are fully integrated, so we can provbably expect more than these three.
Graphically, it looks like Horizons will provide a very cinematic gaming experience. Combat is choreographed so that actions such as an avatar dodging a blow will be visually represented. The team will also try to eliminate as much battlespam as possible by showing all damage done to characters on the main part of the screen. This feature can be turned off. Players will be able to alter how much effort they exert in combat as well as what special abilities they use, and they can even chain their moves. |
