It's amazing how much variation there is in reviews for this game. Gamer's Pulse has their review of Lords of EverQuest online with a rating of 36-40, which translates to "a must have":Any semblance Lords of Everquest has with Age of Mythology and Warcraft III in the use of lords, ends with the definition its of minor units. Lords of Everquest manages to instill further elements of role-playing into its gameplay than either of the other titles by enabling minor units to gain experience in combat numerically. Nearly all minor units in the game, whether infantry, ballistic, mounted, aerial, or siege, can gain levels with experience and potentially become knighted. Once enough experience has accumulated, a unit can be upgraded to a knight which bestows the unit with abilities and an aura similar to a lord; albeit, knights don’t possess the strength of lords and aren’t central to the development of the game’s story. The capacity to develop individual units through the course of play is one of the game’s strongest aspects, created in large part from the franchise’s role-playing roots. |
