E3 continues to cast it's spell with Gaming Invasion posting an E3 Xenus preview. This excerpt talks about the open gameplay and advanced AI:
As Kevin Myers, you fly to Columbia after hearing that your journalist sister has gone missing. Your goal is to find and rescue your sister, obviously, but there is much more to the game than just that. Using a huge 25x25 km seamless world and being given Morrowind-like open-ended freedom, you’ll also find yourself having to survive the harsh country as you form friendships and connections with the local villagers, military, government and hostile militia forces. The locals in the game react to their surroundings better than I’ve ever seen in any PC game before. Villagers will stop to talk to each other and say hello, quarrels and street fights can break out, the various classes of locals clash from time to time, and the AI in and around the town we’ve seen is very convincing and immersive. This advance AI system also affects the way you interact with the locals, if you form a strong alliance with the local government and military, the suppressed villagers and militant rebel groups won’t be very fond of you and so on. It is choices like these that will determine how the game is played out, and adds a great sense of diplomacy and important to even the slightest interactions with the Columbian people. The way you interact with the locals is so seamless, yet so significant, that you’ll have to be careful about everything you do and be aware of the ramifications of your actions at all times. |
