Magic is somewhat similar to power; it is good to have it, to be able to employ it to one's ends, to quicken processes that - in ordinary conditions - take forever. It is also good to be able to control something belonging more to the realm of chaos and coincidence. As the wise say - magic is sexy, it is desirable to many and makes those that bask in its glow desirable themselves. But magic also corrupts - and the more powerful it is, the more dangerous it becomes.
