LucasArts: Restructuring - Lay-Offs Confirmed - KotOR 3 Rumor

GameSpot has a follow-up post on yesterday's rumor (story) when "reliable sources" said that LucasArts had laid off a certain amount of staff members.
This has now been confirmed by the company. A total of 31 employees will be leaving the company in total. The restructuring also includes some shifting around of positions and cutting down on internal development efforts. Project development is instead supposed to be outsourced.
There's also a hint at 'Knights of the Old Republic III' in GameSpot's newsbit. An "informed industry source" told them that development on the title had already begun but that the game has now been put on hold due to the lay-offs... which is a little strange because Lucas had BioWare develop KotOR I and currently has Obsidian working on KotOR II. So who did they lay off? The producer and assistant producer (hardly a "team")? Or were they planning on making KotOR III by themselves? Time will tell...
