Gamedoctor has done a review of Morrowind. The patient is alive and well after receiving their perfect score of 5/5. Here's their conclusion, and I think it sums up the game pretty well:
What strikes me over and over again about Morrowind is the way in which it manages to make the flaws seem so insignificant. I’m generally very angry about crashes, (that’s why I’m a quick-save abuser) they don’t bother me. When the FPS slows noticeably, I don’t care. I still spend 2 hours more playing every session than I intended, because I just needed to see what was around the corner, or needed to investigate some rumored tomb “real quick.” I still go to bed and spend a few minutes thinking about what I’m going to do next and how. I still chat with people on forums, and our conversations always run as thought we were talking about our lives – like we were there. This game will, I hope, set a new standard for RPG depth. I have to say, I haven’t had this much fun playing a computer game in years, and as opposed to leasing a bit of space on my hard drive for a few weeks as most games do, Morrowind has utilities in it’s name now. It will be there for, I imagine, a long time to come. One final word of warning – Morrowind does not include a relationship counselor (no, not even the collector’s edition). You should prepare your significant other for your extended absence. |
