FileFront has put up an interview with 'Thief: Deadly Shadows' Associate Producer Kristine Coco. Q: What separates Thief: Deadly Shadows from the rest of the games in the Thief series?
A: Thief: Deadly Shadows is a true sequel to the first two titles. We’ve kept the essence, while adding some new exciting gameplay elements. Players can experience the game with a first and third person camera and to switch between the two dynamically. The new third person view of Garrett is a powerful addition to the stealth gameplay. To see Garrett pressed up against a wall in a dark corner and an AI strolling by just feet away is nerve wracking. It’s great!
The City Sections add a totally new element to the game. There is a persistent economy, the player can meet Garrett’s underworld contacts, choose to do side quests, mug people or break into their places. I like that I can control the pace of the game. If I am not quite ready to dive into the next mission, there are plenty of things for me to do and information to dig up.
The thing I really like about the City is that on my way from Point A to Point B, I get lured into extra thievery by the glint of an expensive bracelet on a passerbyer's wrist or a locked door. There is always a way to make more money, but it’s up to me on whether I want to go for it. |
