According to a post over at Gothic World Forum, the next sequel of Gothic is to be expected starting from the 3rd quartal of the year 2005.

Amongst other things, the post mentiones that the developers are concentrating on even more realisting animation. They are also working on entangled relations between NPC-s, as well as one realistic news system, which would simulate the natural flow of information. There will be no multiplayer, mostly because of the concept's restrictions. As an interesting item it is mentioned that you will meet the famous four once again. Also, the player should now start the game as a well-built character. The developers seem to think that starting from scratch isn't such a good idea, a bit booring if you will. Some sort of curse is being mentioned as a possible weakening factor at the beginning. But, it says nothing about conceivable character importing.

This, offcourse, is all unofficial stuff, and is said to be a story of a Gothic-fan who had the chance to talk to the right people at GC this year... It was originally posted at World of Gothic forum some time ago in this thread.

Thanks Superdropsi for the link.
