ToTheGame.com has published an interview with Gleb Vlasenko of the russian developers Snowball about Fatherdale. Here's a bit from the interview:
In what ways will the character you play be able to influence the game world apart from the reputation amongst the populace? Is the player's character the only catalyst of events in Fatherdale or does the world live and change around him/her, without the player initiating the change?
On the very small scale, the world lives without knowing the hero - in their eyes he's just another NPC as everybody else. The tavern keeper will travel to the market and serve his guests honeybrew, the hunters will go hunting, boys will look after animals and women after yards and gardens. On the global scale, the world also doesn't depend on Reinar as the other key heroes move into the valley by their own plan and, for example, there's nothing you can do to stop Dragomir from arriving to the Green Gates in Episode V or to stop the tribe of Wild Nomads from going to war and imprisoning the old khan in Episode IV. In between of these lies the freedom of player and the ability to shape the world. Spend some time, persuade the runaway son of a hunter to join the garrison - in the next episode you may find him to be a good companion. Spend your time on another matter, forget about this boy - and in the next episode you will see him at the other side, picked up by vermin and turned into your enemy. |
